“Hoa hoa hoa hoaaa” … do you hear that music? Well, in Kalama, music is always around. You can find it strolling through the Mountain Timber Market, or coming from the lounge inside the Kalama Harbor Lodge. Kalama on a String meets monthly for a local acoustic jam session that’s open to the public. Join in on the fun or stop by to sit back, relax, and enjoy the performance. Kalama on a String isn’t the only music filling the Mountain Timber Market; you can listen to music every Saturday afternoon in the main hall. In Kalama during the week? Kalama Mixtape meets at the Flipside every month to showcase local talent. And if none of that suits, McMenamins always has music flowing out of the Kalama Harbor Lodge. Stop by the lounge or Old 97 Room to get your fix.

It’s Twilight season in Kalama, and yes, we mean the 2008 movie that was filmed here. Indulge in spooky season with the Twilight Film Walking Tour on the Discover Kalama app and website, and follow the path the vampires and werewolves took during filming. The Kalama High School campus is home to a dozen Twilight film locations, each with its own story and details. Take the self-guided tour after school hours, and capture yourself on the front steps of “Forks” High School.

Sticking with the spooky theme? Spooky music bingo at the Kalama Harbor Lodge might be for you! Interested in superstition? The Starry Night & Spooky Sights Paint and Sip event will send everyone with their own (painted) black cat for their home. Kalama fancies itself home to a growing artist community, and with the season change, the summer muralists are headed towards hibernation. Take a stroll through downtown Kalama to set your eyes on several new works from this year, including three large building murals and the completion of the Trashcan Mural Project. Yes, even our trash cans are decorated!

Get outdoors by checking out the new art or taking one of the self-guided walking tours. Stop in downtown to grab a coffee to take on your adventure or to warm up after exploring. Take a walk along the Kalama waterfront or head out toward the Kalama River for a quick loop around Kress Lake and watch the take flight as they migrate. Cross the street to Haydu Park to sit back while the kids climb the play structure. Wrap up your day outdoors by a warm fireplace at Ahles Point or the Cove Bar. Maybe even enjoy a seasonal cider? We don’t make the rules; it’s your day!
