Trashcan Mural Project: Chelsea Pound

Artist Profile:

Neuro-spicy stay-at-home mother of two feral and wonderful special needs children. (Six & 10) After moving to Kalama in 2017, I quickly fell in love with living a secluded lifestyle in the woods off of the Kalama River. I found many passions, including gardening, rafting, rockhounding, and more than anything, discovered my inner artist. I’m a bit of a jack of all trades when it comes to mediums, but I have always loved painting the most. It became a wonderful outlet for me and now is about 90% of my personality. I am deeply inspired by nature and the wonder of geology. I love being able to share this with my children and capture moments in time with a paintbrush. For my piece, I decided to use the topographical map of the Kalama River to construct the top of a carnelian agate, one of Kalama’s hidden treasures. Up top are some of my favorite local wildflowers and an orange sunset to represent Kalama pride.
